Sir Lionel has been a very good son, taking care of his mum and cleaning their castle. But he longs to show that he can be a good knight too. Bored, brave Horse agrees they are well overdue for adventure. Yet soon after entering the forest, they hear a terrible roar. Then they reach a village full of people too afraid to leave their homes. Brave Sir Lionel is from Story Seekers Series 3 - a collection of fiction and non-fiction chapter books for students aged 9 to 12 with a current reading level of 7.5 to 8 years old.  

The aim of Story Seekers is to improve reading comprehension through an integrated literacy approach, which emphasises linguistic comprehension and phonemic and phonological awareness. The books are unique in that the topic and storylines appeal to students' age, while the vocabulary matches their reading abilities.

Dawn McMillan is a children’s author with work published world-wide. After 30 years of a wonderful teaching career she moved into writing full time. Dawn has had 230 educational scripts published, including readers and activity cards, and over thirty picture books published with more in process. She won the Children’s Choice NZ Post Award in 2003 and has since won two Notable book Awards. Some of her fiction work is fun, some serious in content.
